    Mr. Vernon McBride

    August 15, 1951 - February 24, 2022

    Funeral services for Mr. Vernon McBride, 70, of Gary, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Vernon McBride was born August 15, 1951, in the Weaver Community of Nacogdoches County, Texas. He passed this life February 24, 2022, at his Gary, Texas home. Vernon was the sixth child of ten born to the marriage of William Delton and Keet Durrett McBride. He was raised and schooled in Garrison, Texas. He served his country through the U.S. Army. Mr. McBride worked logging and construction, roofing, framing, and drywall. Vernon married Janna Marie Edwards April 12, 1988, and they celebrated 33 years of marriage. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Louise Klopp, Ernest “Buddy” McBride, Nelvin Graham, and Eddie McBride. Mr. McBride is survived by his loving wife, Janna McBride of Gary; sons, Norris Foster and wife Alissa of Dike, Thomas Haupt and wife Karyn of Georgia, Zackary McBride and wife Emily of Gary, Delton McBride and wife Stacey of Gary, Jacob McBride and wife MaryAnn of Gary; daughter, Carole Shae Hogue and husband David of Florida; brothers, Leon McBride and wife Sandra of Georgia, Leroy McBride and wife Donna of Michigan, Wayne McBride and wife Brenda of Tenaha, Paul McBride and wife Lois of Bryan; sister, Linda Calder and husband Bobby of Chireno; nine grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Zackary McBride, Delton McBride, Jacob McBride, Bobby Calder, Jason Samford, and Dustin Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be, Terry Durrett and Sonky Dews. The family requests donation to the McBride account at E. Texas Professional Credit Union.
