Mrs. Betty Ann Ashby

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Ann Ashby, 64, of Lake Jackson will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025 with Rev. Dale Walker officiating, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Cremation Arrangements entrusted to Hawthorn Funeral Home. Betty Ann Ashby was born on October 1, 1960, in Houston, Texas, and passed on September 27, 2025, at the age of 64. She was the youngest of four children born to Robert and Helen Reid. Betty Ann attended Jacksonville College before earning her degree in Journalism with a minor in Business from Texas A&M University. She was a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 1982 and loved to share stories from her time in Aggieland. Her passion for writing and creativity led her to a career in advertising, but her greatest and most cherished calling was becoming a mother. After meeting at church in Kingwood, she married the love of her life, James “Kevin” Ashby, in 1988. They spent 35 years together. Betty Ann was a woman deeply rooted in her Christian faith. She was actively involved in her church community throughout her life, serving others with a servant’s heart. Her quiet strength, kindness, and steadfast belief in God were evident in everything she did. Proceeding her in death are her mother, Helen Reid, and her beloved husband, Kevin Ashby, whom we rejoice to know she is now reunited with in Heaven. She is lovingly remembered by her children: son Kyle Ashby and wife Alex of Beaumont, and daughter Katy Ashby of Lake Jackson. She was the proud grandmother to her granddaughters, Eleanor and Adeline Ashby. Also surviving her is her father, Robert Reid of New Caney; sisters Suzanne Jeffcoat and husband Delbert of Coldspring, and Patricia Partridge and husband Wiley of Cleveland; brother Bob Reid and wife Kim of The Woodlands; and Bill O’Neal of Carthage. She is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored their Aunt Betty Ann. Betty Ann had a lifelong passion for capturing memories. Whether she was snapping photos at every gathering or carefully arranging them into scrapbooks, she delighted in preserving the moments others might have overlooked. She took great joy in keeping everyone informed, connected, and part of each other’s lives. Her dedication to documenting and celebrating those she loved will be cherished forever, living on in every album, framed photo, and story she helped preserve.
