Mrs Bulah Dell Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Bulah Dell Smith, 91 of Old Center will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 20, 2024, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Bulah Dell Bryant Smith was born April 1, 1933, in the Old Center Community of Panola County, Texas. She passed this life April 17, 2024, peacefully at her Old Center Home. Bulah was the third of five children born to the marriage of Clyde Robert and Lucy Melviney Kyle Bryant. She was raised and schooled in the Rural Flats in Frog Pond, Texas. She would later attend and graduate Carthage High School. Mrs. Smith worked in many areas through dry goods, dollars store, hatcheries, Birdwell’s Dept. Store and even kept children but she was remembered as a longtime cafeteria manager at Carthage High School for 24 years. Bulah loved her Lord and family above all else as a member of the Old Center Baptist Church, and when not there she loved spending time with her grandbabies. She was known for her Sunday Suppers and your attendance was required. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Connie Smith; siblings, Charles Alvin, Thomas Clifton, Robert Wayne Bryant, and Allie Bryant Holt; Stepsons, Wilbert and Dickey Smith; grandchildren, Ashley Smith and Luke Farmer. Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving children, Bettye Ann Farmer and husband Howard of Old Center, Brenda Gayle Hudson and husband Bobby Lee of Carthage, Sam A. Smith of Old Center, Don Smith and wife Mary Lou of Old Center, Connie Lou Hall and husband John of Joaquin, and J.C. Smith of Old Center; sister, Elsie Kuoppala of Carthage; step daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith of Shreveport, LA; (19) grandchildren and (15) great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Justin Smith, Derrick Smith, Josh Bryant, Crit Miller, Willie Brooks, Bobby Hudson; honorary pallbearers will be, Howard Farmer, John Hall, Daniel Hall, Johnny Hudson, Kyle Brooks, Barry Brooks, J.W. Murphy, and Justin Woodall.
