David Huff

Funeral services for Mr. David Huff, 71, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Carthage with Dr. Allen Tilley and Rev. Loyd Roper officiating. Burial will follow in the Murvual Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home. Mr. Huff died Monday, March 26 2012 at his home in Carthage. Mr. David Walter Huff was born May 1, 1940 in Mablevale, Arkansas. He was one of eight children born to the marriage of John Andrew and Cecil Marie Pruitt Huff. He was raised in rural Arkansas attending schools there in Bryant. He married Virginia “Jenny” Cockrum November 6, 1959 and together they celebrated 52 years of marriage. David worked as an electrician, Plant Manager, night manager and supervisor for the Carthage Cup Company. Mr. Huff was a member of the Park Place Masonic Lodge #1172 A.F. & A.M. and a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Victory Sunday School Class. He was elected as Senior Man of the Year by the First Baptist Joy Group of which he and Jenny were active. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Andrew, Jr., sisters, Martha Hunter, Mary Burnett, Polly Abshire and Patricia Zuber. Mr. Huff is survived by his loving wife Jenny Huff of Carthage, son, Kevin Huff and wife Carrie of Ardmore, OK, daughter, Karrie Lister and husband John of Carthage, brother, Samuel Huff and wife Shirley of Pearland, sisters, Dovie Brown of Pasadena, brother-in-law, Dalton Abshire of Pasadena, grandchildren, Isaac, Joshua and Andrew Huff, Makenzie, Daxton, and Makaela Reeder, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Special thanks to Cardiologist Dr. Jeff White and his nurse Beverly for their excellent care. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Zuber, Bob Zuber, Tony Raper, Roy Bufkin, Kelly Hayes, Scott Cockrum, Wade Barlow, Jerry Garland and Mark Baisden.
