Funeral services for Mrs. Edith McMillin, 82 of Carthage, Texas formerly of Jonesville, Louisiana will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Jonesville, Louisiana with Rev. Craig James, Rev. Billy Koinm and Mark Rachal officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Manifest, Louisiana under the direction of Comer Funeral Home. Local arrangements were by Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Monday evening from 6–9:00 p.m. at the church. Mrs. McMillin passed away June 10, 2011 in Carthage. Mrs. Edith McMillin was born July 17, 1928 in Monroe, Louisiana to the marriage of Charlie and Alice Ivey. She was a resident of Carthage for eight years. Edith was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Jonesville, Louisiana where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She was also a member of the W.M.U. and a homemaker. Edith was also a part of the Carthage Healthcare Championship Bingo Team and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mike McMillin; daughter, Kathy Coon; grandsons, James McMillin, Jr. and Barry Gordon “Macky” McMillin; numerous brothers and sisters. Mrs. McMillin is survived by her two sons, James McMillin, Sr. of Monterey, Louisiana and Berry McMillin of Carthage; daughter, Kay Ewing of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; grandchildren, Tracie Velazquez, Kristie Poole both of Monterey, Louisiana, Daniel McMillin, Justin Coon both of Carthage, Michael Coon of Whitehouse, Meredith Ewing and Brenson Ewing both of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; great grandchildren, Kaslynn Wilson, Chris Hughes, Joseph Poole, Nick Poole, Christian McMillin, Devin McMillin, Emily McMillin, Micheala Coon and Chevy Coon; great, great grandchildren, Mayson Wilson and Benjamin Wilson. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Lawrence, Andy Mason, Jessie Parker, Dewitt Carpenter, David Carpenter, Brad Cockerham and David Miller.
