Mrs. Martha Jane Mihlhauser

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Mihlhauser, 89, of Carthage, Texas will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James McRight officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Mrs. Martha Jane Harris Mihlhauser was born October 22, 1936, in Carthage, Texas. She passed this life peacefully April 16, 2026 in Longview, Texas. Martha was one of seven children born to the marriage of Christine Harris and Raymond Harris. She was raised and schooled in Carthage, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1955. Martha was a graduate of Panola College. She wed Bobby Joe Mihlhauser on March 18, 1956, and they celebrated over 46 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Mihlhauser worked as a medical technician for Panola General for over 15 years and Williams Furniture for 18 years before her retirement. Martha met and married Arthur Kenderdine and they enjoyed many years together before he preceded her in death in 2015. She was rooted in the Baptist faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage. Martha enjoyed working in her flower gardens, putting together puzzles, and sewing many amazing quilts. She loved socializing with people. She had a bold, one of a kind personality and was loved by those who knew her. She loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior for her kids and grandkids. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sisters Jimmie Nell Lynch, Mattie Caruthers, Billie Davis and Dorothy Collins; and a brother, David Harris. Mrs. Mihlhauser is survived by her devoted sons, Steve Mihlhauser and his wife Pam of Carthage, Bobby Mihlhauser and his wife Vicki of Carthage; sister Elaine Ross and husband Dan of Beckville; sister-in-law, Judy Harris of Pecan Gap; grandchildren, Alison Smith and husband Corey of Wylie, Paul Mihlhauser and wife Natalie of Amarillo, Jonathan Mihlhauser and wife Shea and Brittany Ford and husband Ryan of Carthage. Great grandchildren Kylie Mihlhauser, Wesley Smith, Madison Mihlhauser, Kross Mihlhauser, Keaton Smith, Samuel Ford, McKinsey Mihlhauser, Elisabeth Ford and Austin Smith. Numerous nieces, nephews and host of friends. A special caregiver and friend, Melissa Brewer. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Mihlhauser, Jonathan Mihlhauser, Corey Smith, Ryan Ford, Danny Ross and Derrick Ross. A heartfelt thank you to Heartsway Hospice Longview.
