Roy C. Waldrop

Funeral services for Mr. Roy C. Waldrop, 81 of Beckville, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joseph Smith and Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Waldrop Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6–8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Waldrop passed away March 24, 2013 at his home in Beckville. Mr. Roy Calvin Waldrop was born March 24, 1932 in Dallas, Texas to the marriage of William Plummer Waldrop and Nellie Geneva Williams Waldrop Cherry. He was raised and schooled in Beckville and graduated from Beckville High School with the class of 1950. Mr. Waldrop met and later married Fannie Lou Cook on June 12, 1953 and celebrated 59 years together. Roy worked for many years as an auto glass glazer in the auto repair industry and later worked for Ewing Buick for 25 years. Mr. Waldrop also served his country through the United States Air Force. Roy was a very active member and a deacon at the Second Baptist Church in Dallas and most recently was a member at Central Baptist Church in Carthage. He loved to go hunting, fishing, camping with his son and grandsons, raising a vegetable garden, playing dominos every Thursday and he especially loved his chickens. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Christine Armstrong, Leotis Wyatt, Nell Murray; and brother, William Edward Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop is survived by his loving wife, Fannie Waldrop of Beckville; daughter, Karen Denise Waldrop Ferguson and husband Jay of Carrollton; son, Gregory Alan Waldrop and wife Loretta of Beckville; siblings, Elsie Loveless of Longview, Dr. Grady Cherry of Irving, Ann Bland and husband Sammie of Forney; grandchildren, Jay, Jr., Jordan, Joshua, Michelle, Stephanie and Suzanne; 14 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Armstrong, Aaron Cherry, Bryan Darnell, Steve Sowell, Bill Waldrop, Ronnie Waldrop, Joe Wyatt and Roy Wyatt.
